This class is for the more experienced actor who wants to explore the other side of the script!
Through discussion, script work, and hands-on directing, you will learn to find the hidden gems in scripts, block a scene organically, allow an actor to explore their own version of a character while staying true to your own goals as director. You will explore how to let your own vision change and when to hold firm. We will also explore practical aspects of directing such as how to manage a rehearsal calendar, how to work with set, lighting, and costume designers, and what all responsibilities fall under the director.
Instructor Deborah Metzger holds a B.F.A degree in Acting from Point Park University. She is the founder of both Paragon Studios and Paragon Theatre and has directed well over fifty shows. Although, she loves performing, her passion is bringing plays and musicals to life as a director.
Class is limited to 8 students so everyone can get plenty of time to work.
Students must be over 18 and have experience or training in acting.
